Reading the title you might have thought about the 1968 “Padosan” movie song “mere saamne wali khidki mein” but there are a few more songs in which the leading actor and actress are picturised in homes having windows facing each other. Both of them secretly throwing glances at each other from the opposing window. And such scenes are one of my favourite ones. So here is a list of such songs.

Mere Saamne Waali Khidki Mein Ek Chaand

Yes the one that you had already imagined. Awesome voice of legendary Kishore da and great music by RDB makes this song memorable for ages. Makes anyone fall in love with the voice. Lyrics are beautifully woven by Rajinder Krishan, each part of the song makes you feel the joy of love, waiting and devotion.

Humein Tumse Mohabbat Hai Magar Keh Nahi Sakte

One of the good-but-infamous songs is this one from 1967 film Aurat starring my favourite star Rajesh Khanna and an actress whose name I don’t know. The voice of Asha Bhonsle and music by Ravi makes it an ear-worm but sadly not for long. The picturisation is actually the best part of this song.

Aise Toh Na Dekho Ke Humko Nasha Ho Jaye

This song from 1965 film “Teen Deviyan” starring evergreen Dev Anand and gorgeous Nanda is fun and smooth going simultaneously. The picturisation is awesome, Dev Anand drawing on a mirror while singing, Nanda secretly watching him, everything, everything is awesome. This song is sung by Rafi ji and the music is contributed by RDB’s talented father Sachin Dev Burman while the wonderful lyrics are one of the Majrooh Sultanpuri’s creations.

Arzi Humari Ye Marzi Humari

This playful song is from 1954 Kishore Kumar starring film “Naukari”. Sung by Kishore da himself and music is composed by Salil Chowdhury while the lyrics are creation of Shailendra the great lyricist. This one has a catchy tune. Since I have not watched the movie, I have made some assumptions based on this song like may be Kishore da’s character is hitting two targets with one shot, in this case one song, that are impressing his lady-love next door and writing an application for a job.

Currently I know only 4 songs in this category but I like such songs. Though if we consider any kind of windows and any one of the stars inside the window then there may be some more songs like Mere Sapno Ki Rani Kab Aayegi Tu for the window of train and Pal Bhar Ke Liye for many windows and doors too.

  1. Nice! I can’t, offhand, think of any other songs that fit the bill (and two of the songs you’ve listed aren’t familiar to me either)… but I’m sure there must be others, too. Someday, they will emerge. 🙂

Two pieces of advice, if you don’t mind:

    1. Add something to relieve the text. A screenshot or two would be nice.
    2. Add links to the songs on Youtube, Dailymotion, or any other (even only-audio) site; without links, someone as busy as I am is not going to make the effort to go and search for the song.

    Cheers, and good luck!
